Fujitsu Stylistic M532 Android Tablet

The race for the best information gadgets—from smartphones to ultrabooks—have gone crazy these days, with the preliminary thought of whose going to win by giving the most lifestyle change especially on the communications and entertainment sides. However, fewer variants of these innovations have taken the risk of going later in the race just to respond to the needs of some people in specialized sectors like business and education. Realizing all of these, the Japanese company Fujitsu made a new face to tablets by making its new design inclined to better business procedures; let’s meet the M532 of the Fujitsu’s Stylistic series.

The Fujitsu Stylistic M532 is a tablet that does not possess any newer look, though personally I love the cleaner and edgier design especially on the corners and the narrower bezel. The face comes in a somewhat light-reflective screen with black bezels bordering it, and a firm flat seemingly metallic base. To fulfill the name of the series, the M532 is stylish in its aluminum frames and chassis, plus the famous red background on startup. With specific dimensions of 262.6×175.4×8.6mm, the overall body is a bit heavier than expected at 560grams.

The body of the Fujitsu Stylistic M532 is reported to have a military-grade durability measure, which means this design may be able to resist dust and liquid, but we still do not want to put this inside an aquarium. The display is fully coated with Corning’s Gorilla glass for optimum protection against scratches to bumps in everyday handling. Along with the hardware are two small stereo speakers (might be too small in this case when compared to other competing tablets), volume rockers, a power button, a dock port beneath, a mini-USB port, a SD-card slot, and two cameras (a 2MP camera in front, and an 8MP one at the back with LED flash and AF).

With the business people as target consumers, the M532 from Fujitsu is designed to be brought along and respond to professional and confidential needs. The first feature that M532 brags to businessmen is its being VDI (virtual desktop infrastructure/interface) ready. What this means is that users get the chance to do office tasks and sensitive communications cloud-based. Using the latest VDI, one can literally access to files and perform tasks without the need for storage hardware and so on. More with the VDI feature, business security is also a guarantee because the business applications are online and are bulletproof against data leakage.

Another interesting feature of the Fujitsu Stylistic M532 is its body. As said, the design is not the lightest tablet on the market, but is literally a very light technology to bring along and use anytime anywhere. Plus in its being lightweight is its long battery life of up to 8 hours (video playback), and optional suitcases and docking solutions. It is also tough enough to bring along outdoors plus the auto-brightness feature and you can enjoy connectivity with its 3G/UMTS (unfortunately, only 3G) and Bluetooth connectivity, not to mention yet the GPS and other features to help you stay on track.

Lastly, going for a mobile broadband instead of relying on WLAN is better. The Fujitsu Stylistic M532 is definitely broadband capable with its pre-installed modem and a micro SIM card slot. This is a great feature since business-minded individuals do not have to worry about bringing a laptop stick or looking for a hotspot to access to the cloud database. Unfortunately, we only have up to 3G connection, which is a lot slower than today’s standard of 4G.

The device runs in the not-so-new-anymore Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) OS, but if you really try to look, the Fujitsu Stylistic M532 did not maximize its identity being Android with some limits in apps and a slightly different user interface. Performance is well with the model’s NVIDIA Tegra 3 Quad Core processor, and security is enhanced with the free Norton security packaged pre-installed.

My call for the Fujitsu Stylistic M532 is that, it is a head-turner when it comes to giving another great option for business users, but the feature that comes along is packed with limits like the only-3G connectivity. Priced at around $539, the tablet’s price is still not really reasonable.
