Sony Xperia ION Android Smartphone

Sony Xperia ION Android Smartphone Price in Singapore, Features, and Other Details: The Xperia ION is the first smartphone from Sony to be able to connect to 4G LTE networks, with AT&T as its official carrier in the US. It was announced to the world at the CES 2012. The Sony Xperia ION boasts of a 4.5-inch high definition touch screen display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels that enables it to deliver a great visual experience. In addition, the Xperia ION also has a 12 MP shooter, and a front shooter of 1.3 MP, the latter of which even comes with a dedicated hardware button for a quick and convenient shutter release. The camera located at the rear can shoot HD videos of up to 1080p while the front camera is able to come up with 720p clips. The phone also runs on a dual core processor that makes it capable of handling most of the user’s day-to-day multi-tasking jobs.

Physically, the Sony Xperia ION doesn’t have much flare. In fact, it’s a straight and conservative rectangular phone with sharp edges rather than the curved playful look of some. As expected, the large multi-touch screen dominates the front of the device, along with four Android associated capacitive buttons. Overall, the device measures 133 x 68 x 10.8 mm and weighs around 144g.

Aside from the obvious smartphone features, the Sony Xperia ION has a PlayStation certification for certain game titles that are available in Android. In addition, its interface reflects is ability to function not just as a mobile phone but also as an entertainment device. It has a micro-HDMI port and a compatible dock that enables it to connect with devices that have large displays like HDTVs. This means that the user can very much play anything from his or her Xperia ION mobile phone – music, videos, picture slideshows – using the television. In fact, he or she can even send an SMS via the TV. Also, while this is the case, the phone itself may also be controlled by the TV’s dedicated remote control.

In addition to all of these, the Sony Xperia ION uses the mobile version of the company’s Bravia Engine, the same kind of system that Sony has been using for its line of Bravia HD televisions. What comes up is a great rendition of photographs and images on the phone’s display that have the characteristic larger than life color tones found on the company’s HDTVs.

However, for those who are avid fans of the latest technology from the Android operating system, the Sony Xperia ION currently only comes with Android v 2.3 or Gingerbread, and not the latest version 4.0 or Ice Cream Sandwich. This is the same kind of OS that the Sony Xperia S came with when it was presented in the same event as the Sony Xperia ION. The company claims though that the Xperia ION will eventually tote the latest Android system, but as to the exact date, no one from the company has confirmed when it will do so.

Despite of this, the interface of the Sony Xperia ION runs as smoothly as possible, with no lag going in the way of browsing through menus and options. Overall, it is a great device albeit the toned down look, and is able to run applications fast because of its dual core SnapDragon processor that is clocked at 1.5 GHz.

The company has not released a price set for the Sony Xperia ION yet and an exact date of release but the phone is expected to officially join the Android smartphone market in the second quarter of this year. As a slower perhaps less expensive version of the Sony Xperia ION, the company also announced a so-called Xperia ION HSDPA, which runs on a much slower platform or network than its predecessor.
