Lenovo IdeaTab S2 Tablet Computer Price in Singapore, Features, and Other Details: The Lenovo IdeaTab S2 is a tablet computer that runs the latest Android version 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). It is the first-ever Snapdragon S4-powered tablet and features the Lenovo Mandarin user interface instead of the newer Lenovo Magic 3.0 UI. The device was launched together with the Lenovo S2 smartphone during the CES 2012 event at Las Vegas, Nevada.
The Lenovo IdeaTab S2 has a solid build but feels very light and comfortable on the hand. The tab has a thick covering with some banding on the edge while the overall color scheme is a conservative black. While the front is a glossy surface covered with a glass sheet, the back has a soft texture that makes the tablet easier to grip. The physical makeup of the device gives it a good balance when lifted using one hand or using both hands.
Like many other Lenovo models, the IdeaTab S2 is aesthetic enough as it is; the design is very straightforward and doesn’t drive towards outlandish styling, rather it has the look of simplicity with only the Lenovo logo at the back breaking the almost monotonous theme.
The Lenovo IdeaTab S2 is powered by a 1.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 8960 dual core processor. Although only a dual core, the said processor is the first processor to feature Qualcomm’s new 28 nm Krait core. This new innovation is proven to outperform even the Cortex-A9 featured in quad-core processors like the SoC Tegra 3. Hence, browsing the Internet, multi-tasking, and even gaming experience are expected to be smooth and speedy.

The Lenovo IdeaTab S2 has 1 GB worth of RAM and an expandable storage size of up to 64 GB. It supports Wi-Fi connectivity at 801.11 b/g/n as well as 3G connectivity with call support. The tab features some ports like a single microUSB socket, a microSD slot, and a mini HDMI video output. There is a physical shutter button on the side to complement the camera feature. The tab contains two cameras. The one on the back has an 8 MP resolution with autofocus and LED flash while the one on the front has a 1.3 MP resolution. The camera can capture as well as play full HD videos at 1080p.
Similar to the Asus Transformer Prime, the Lenovo IdeaTab S2 has a thin keyboard accessory which, aside from its obvious physical function, can also act as an external battery device. In addition to the promised 9 hours of action with the tab alone, docking the keyboard can boost the battery life to up to 20 hours. This outlasts the Asus Transformer Prime docking keyboard by 2 hours. The keyboard also contains additional ports like two other full-sized USB ports and another micro-USB port. It also contains several hotkeys, which launches some Android specific tasks. The touchpad on the other hand contains two responsive buttons along with a smooth track.
As mentioned, the Lenovo IdeaTab S2 features a Mandarin user interface. The interface is simple and minimalistic and lacks much of the frills of other UIs but nonetheless it gives a good level of usability and complements well with the tab’s many functions. A prominent feature of the UI is that it fills the homescreen with rectangular widgets that makes the screen look like a virtual version of a checkerboard. The UI also offers constant updates on applications like the pre-installed social networking apps, as well as the Android Market.
The Lenovo IdeaTab S2 has a 10.1-inch IPS capacitive touchscreen display with 1280 x 800 pixels resolution, and a relatively high pixel per inch density of approximately 215 ppi. These high-end specs enable the tab to give out sharp and high quality images. In addition, the IPS panel that is the same type of panel found in Apple’s iPad 2 also lends commendable viewing angles.
The Lenovo IdeaTab S2 tablet computer is aimed to be released to the market by the second quarter of the year.
