Canon EOS 5D Mark III DSLR Camera Price in Singapore, Features, and Other Details

Canon EOS 5D Mark III DSLR Camera Price in Singapore, Features, and Other Details: It has been more than three years since Canon’s largely successful professional digital camera, the EOS 5D Mark II was released. Finally, the next version, the prosumer full frame D-SLR conventionally named EOS 5D Mark III, is now going to be shipped, following its formal announcement just recently. It looks as if it takes in a better standing than its predecessor. While camera improvements from other companies brought with them quite a bit of new features, the Canon EOS 5D Mark III’s updates are essentially more like bringing the 5D series up to speed, adding in many of the features that existing 5D Mark II users have been wanting. In short, Canon has undertaken no radical changes in bringing the market this camera, but nonetheless still managed to whet curiosity for the model.

The Canon EOS 5D Mark III is a mid-sized DSLR. Most of the EOS 5D Mark III’s ergonomics seemed to have been gained from the EOS 7D but it still retained some of the basic features of the Mark II. It has the same magnesium alloy coated-body, which extends to most of its parts including the AE module and its internal components, while there is still the prominent battery grip on the front that offers a steady and well balanced handle. However, there are indeed some big changes to the overall controls scheme. For instance, the top plate of the 5D Mark III is nearly identical not to the Mark II but to the 7D. It now has the locking mode dial and power switch on the left side of the viewfinder rather than on the other direction.

The back of the Canon EOS 5D Mark III contains five keys along the left side of the rear LCD. There are rear control joystick, a large rear control dial, and control keys just below the top readout display. The menu key has been switched into the position of the live view key of the Mark II. In the latter’s stead, there is now a dedicated creative photo button. The old creative photo button on the other hand was replaced with a button that lets the user immediately rate a photo with a metatag. This scheme will carry through conversion to other files and into photo editing programs. In addition, there is no built-in flash in the Mark III although there is a hot shoe with wireless plus sync connector on top that can easily accommodate an external flash. The viewfinder is optical type (pentaprism), with 100% view coverage and 0.71x magnification.

The Canon EOS 5D Mark III has a fixed LCD screen on the rear that measures 3.2 inches in diagonal. The ClearView II TFT display contains 1,040,000 colors, and not touch-based, offering all camera capabilities to the full set of manual controls. It boasts of a 2-stop improvement in low-light performance. Connectivity wise, the camera has a built in USB 2.0, HDMI mini, and a remote control. The Mark III also comes with a new and improved processor called Digic 5+ that lets it take pictures at a speedy rate.

The Canon EOS 5D Mark III now contains an improved CMOS sensor that measures 36 x 24 mm (full frame) and that could manage a maximum resolution of 5760 x 3840 pixels, and an image ratio of 3:2. Effective pixel resolution is at 22.3 MP but this can be extended by the sensor photo detectors to as much as 23.4 MP. There is no built-in image stabilization in the body, thus this feature is largely supported by the lens. Images come out in RAW uncompressed format but that JPEG quality can be set to either fine or normal. In terms of performance, the EOS 5D Mark III inherited its sophisticated 61-point autofocus system from its high-end brother, the EOS-1D X. There’s a contrast detector from the sensor, phase detect, multi-area detect, selective single point, single, continuous, face detection, and live view.

Overall, the Canon EOS 5D Mark III is definitely designed to suit the needs of many professional and serious photographers and videographers. The camera is said to become available around the end of March 2012.
