HP Envy 14 Spectre Ultrabook Price in Singapore, Features, and Specs

HP Envy 14 Spectre Ultrabook Price in Singapore, Features, and Specs: Lately, there seems to be a huge demand for Ultrabooks in the market. Once it was desktops, then it was laptops and tablet PCs, now – Ultrabooks. Ultrabooks are the elites of the laptops, specifically manufactured by Intel to give you thinner, lighter and classier notebooks without having the performance of the device suffer. It is in this light then that we look into one of the latest in the line of Ultrabooks to hit the market – the HP Envy 14 Spectre. The name truly suits this machine for anyone owning the HP Envy 14 Spectre would truly be the envy of the people around him.

The HP Envy 14 Spectre is powered by an Intel Core i5-2467M processor and has 4 GB of RAM. Though being one of the latest Ultrabooks for 2012, people would surely expect an Intel Core i7, but the brand swayed from the mainstream and we don’t really know for sure why. Clocking the Spectre against the Acer Aspire S3, the latter was obviously found to be lacking in speed. However, if you are talking about general day-to-day use, then you should not worry about a thing since your work will not be affected. You do not need an ultra-sophisticated chip to assist you in sending emails.

The overall design of the HP Envy 14 Spectre is very pleasing to the eyes. It is all glossy black and shiny aluminum silver. Though it may be a bit hefty at 1.8 kg, it prides itself on having black Gorilla Glass covering its 14-inch screen and backlit keyboards. The keyboard has great depth, making it very easy to type, perfect for writers everywhere. Another great aspect in its keyboard is that it has a sensor wherein it dims as you move farther away. In essence, it saves much more energy.

To the right side of the HP Envy 14 Spectre, you would see the reason why this baby would probably fly off the shelves once it goes into the market – a very distinctive red “b” logo can be spotted, and that is nothing less than the Beats insignia. I have mentioned earlier that this is the Ultrabook for the writers, and now I’m telling you, it is the Ultrabook for the audiophile as well. You can tweak your music while enjoying the crisp, clear images brought to you by it 1600 x 900-pixel resolution display, and have a mini-club playing in your head as well. You also have an HDMI port and an Ethernet port as well.

A disappointing factor regarding the HP Envy 14 Spectre is that is not made for gaming. This goes out to all serious gamers out there. This Ultrabook has been tested when it comes to some on-the-spot photo and video editing and was found capable enough to handle the kind of graphics performance that kind of task requires, but do not expect it to deliver just as well when it comes to gaming.

Another glitch in the makeup of the HP Envy 14 Spectre is the trackpad. The design is nice and all, but the mouse buttons would need an extra shove just so you can select a certain object or text. It is not as sensitive as other buttons and you would have to click it repeatedly just so it would function just as you wanted. A bit irritating, really.

All in all, the HP Envy 14 Spectre is great for day-to-day use, but people requiring speed and raw power would have to look elsewhere. The design is great, as well as the sound. However, considering that this gadget is not as powerful as the other Ultrabooks out in the market, they are pricing it at $ 1,400. If you ask me, that is just way too much. HP would do well to lower their price a bit.
