Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S Android Smartphone Price in Singapore, Tech Specs, and Other Features

Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S Android Smartphone Price in Singapore, Tech Specs, and Other Features: Sony Ericsson has once again launched another model under their Xperia series, the Xperia Arc S. I’m thinking that this won’t be the last of it. Lately, I have been seeing a lot of newly launched models, but their features do not seem to differ a lot from their predecessors. Oh they may have a few tweaks here and there, but they are all essentially the same. The sad thing is that they are being sold at exorbitant prices when they should be sold at the same price as the older models. That is what I think anyway.
In the case of the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S, I think my theory applies. Not much was done to make this model different from the previous ones, but do not let my judgment cloud yours. Read on and see what you think.
Body Beautiful
I may have started off ranting on the similarity of the features of this new model to the older ones, but you cannot deny that the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S is beautiful. It is very striking to look at. Thin, sleek with a very wide screen that would allow you to browse websites, watch movies, and play games with ease. Unlike the previous version, the Xperia Arc S comes in a variety of colors. You can choose from Pure White, Gloss Black, Misty Silver, Midnight Blue and Sakura Pink. This is a great break from all those black that we have been seeing lately.
You can still find the same three silver buttons at the bottom of the screen. And no matter how new the model, they still have not yet installed a backlight to any of them. –A minor setback, yes? Maybe in the future, they might remember to install one. Meanwhile, you would have to rely on your memory to remember as to which buttons does which. Easily done since we are only dealing with three buttons here.
The screen of the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S is still a wonderful 4.2 inches, so no complaints there. However, they have also seemed to forget to install a front camera that should have been there like those found on much cheaper smartphones. –In future versions, perhaps?

Smile and Say, “Cheese!”
The Xperia’s camera has always been really good, even with the older models. The Arc S has retained the 8-megapixel camera, however, I was really hoping they would upgrade it to a 10 or a 12-megapixel cam. But 8-megapixel is not bad. You get very clear pictures with a quality that even rivals that of some digital cameras. Their new upgrade in this area though is their 3D Sweep Panorama. It is said to make pictures pop out of your screen. This is great when you have 3D capable screens, like your HDTVs. If you do not have one, the pictures come out as less than stellar. Due to the sweeping motion during capture, some pictures come out not really clear. They also have a bit of a problem adjusting with lighting, showing a kind of “flare” in bright areas like windows, sky, etc.
To get the most out of your camera, I suggest that you turn off the auto mode and switch to manual. It’s great because you can adjust the white balance and the ISO of your cam.
The Icing on the Cake
The people behind the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S did something right though. They integrated a 1.4 GHz processor, so everything is faster than before. They have also integrated the new Android Gingerbread OS, which is equivalent to it being faster, more stable and compatible with more apps.
With the price tag that they are attaching to this thing ($450-$500), I was kind of hoping it would be a leap (I’d settle for even just a small hop) away from its predecessors. And I was kind of disappointed. I’d give it 2.5 to 3 stars out of 5 stars.
