Although most of the apps can be manipulated using finger movements, the pen adds functionality in that it gives a more precise control for some touchscreen functions. It can be used to convert handwriting to digital texts using preloaded apps, makes it easier to annotate and mark on PDF files, and also enables drawing on a sketchpad. The pen additionally, has a large red eraser on the other end.

The homescreen has unique Launch Zone apps that deliver quick access to email, music, videos, reading, and web services. The Zones, as Lenovo called them, can be customizable. There is also a so-called App Wheel that can be accessed on the bottom of the screen. App Wheel also readily accesses to six applications, fully customizable.
