Canon PowerShot S100 Digital Camera Price in Singapore, Features, and Tech Specs: The S100 is a high-end compact camera from Canon’s PowerShot line. It exceeds both its predecessors S90 and S95 in terms of imaging elements and it also employs a new sensor technology. The Canon PowerShot S100 is very small and definitely fits the range of pocket size compact cameras. It can very well be the choice of serious photographers who aim for small cameras and quality images.
The Canon PowerShot S100 looks a lot like the S95 but with better specs and simpler outward design. It has a clean though rather serious, and less gimmicky look. The Canon PowerShot S100 has a solid body that measures 98.8 x 59.8 x 26.7 mm, much thinner than its S95 predecessor, and weighs 198 grams despite the increase in zoom range. It is wrapped in a tactile coating that gives a good grip to the camera, along with a small and slim hand grip on the front and a rubbery thumb rest at the back, both of which are new features not seen in S90 and S95.
The Canon PowerShot S100 employs a DIGIC 5 processor and has a highly sensitive 1/1.7 type CMOS sensor that can capture 12.1 megapixels worth of images. This is actually a higher pixel count compared to its predecessors, and as mentioned, the CMOS sensor is new while both the S90 and the S95 use a CCD type. The Canon PowerShot S100, however, employs the same iContrast technology that is a standard feature of Canon cameras.
The Canon PowerShot S100 has 5x zoom lens with a focal range of 24 – 140 mm and maximum aperture of f/2.0. The camera features a 3-inch LCD display with 461,000 dot resolution, while its maximum ISO is 6400 at full resolution. There are a number of incremental 1/3 stop-adjustments available between the lowest ISO at 80 to the maximum value.

The Canon PowerShot S100 is capable of HD movie recording at 1080 pixels and 24 frames per second, and features a full range of manual shooting modes, and 9.6 frames per second burst shooting. It has a very innovative Control Ring that makes it possible for the user to adjust the settings of the camera to respective modes and functions by simply twisting the selector at the base of the lens clockwise or counter clockwise.
The Control Ring circles the lens and in addition to the twisting function, the Ring Function button on the camera’s rear can be pressed to access eight extra presets and a custom option. Other options to the Ring Function include changing the aperture, selecting the ISO speed, adjusting the exposure and white balance, and stepped zoom with equivalents of 24 mm, 28 mm, 35 mm, 50 mm, 85 mm, 100 mm and 120 mm steps, changing the contrast, and choosing the aspects ratios.
