Motorola Droid RAZR Price in Singapore, Tech Specs, and Other Features

Motorola Droid RAZR Price in Singapore, Tech Specs, and Other Features: We check out the recently announced flagship Android smartphone of Motorola – the Motorola Droid RAZR. Join us as we gut the handset from bow to stern to get an idea of what the device is bringing to the table. As usual, we will also be sharing with you its estimated price once it arrives in Singapore.
Design and construction
Motorola recently announced its new flagship device in the form of the new Motorola DroidRAZR. Stealing a quick look at the specs sheet of the handset gives you the impression that this device deserves the flagship title in the company and can be expected to be a formidable player in the smartphone game and not to mention a device that will offer the also recently released iPhone 4S more than token competition.
Despite the fact that the Droid RAZR packs a form factor that makes it rather look like an ugly slab of black plastic, that is just as soon forgotten once you get to know what the vital stats of the handset are. The Droid RAZR measures 130.7 x 68.9 x 7.1 mm and tips the scales at 127 grams. Looking at these numbers, designers of the device are to be lauded by managing to cram so much in a profile so thin. And at its waistline of a mere 7.1 mm, the Droid RAZR easily becomes the thinnest smartphone, superphone if you will, to date.
In addition to that, the Droid RAZR is designed with toughness in mind with its front panel getting covered by a sheet of Gorilla Glass while its back panel getting infused with Kevlar. The toughness of the handset doesn’t end on the outside though with its guts getting enclosed in an interior chassis fashioned from stainless steel. The only snag we can find in the design and construction of the device is that the squared-off design aesthetic of the device makes the DroidRAZR feel a bit awkward to hold at first. In time though, you will definitely get used to it.

Under the hood
Some would argue that the externals of the Droid RAZR is not as good looking or as aesthetically-pleasing compared to other sleek and streamlined handsets but all will definitely agree that its internals is something that the handset should be proud of. In short, the Droid RAZR is a beast when it comes to the components that lurk underneath its hood.
The Droid RAZR is based on the OMAP platform and packs a Texas Instruments OMAP 4430 chipset at the heart of its circuit board. The 4430 is equipped with SoC architecture so all the needed components breathing life to the device are all packed within the chipset.
That being said, we see the dual-core ARN Cortex-A9 CPU of the Droid RAZR running at a clock speed of 1.2 GHz sitting right next to the handset dedicated PowerVR SGX540 GPU that has the responsibility of covering graphical-related concerns atop the 4430 chipset. In terms of system memory, the Droid RAZR packs a full gigabyte of RAM which supports and helps the processor out in coming up with the needed computing power. Storage space in the handset is at a very generous 16GB of onboard memory which can further be expanded by utilizing the dedicated media card of the handset. Making use of this feature will get you as much as 32GB of external memory when using high-capacity microSD cards. In addition to that, the retail package of the Droid RAZR will also come with a 16GB media card.
The display
In terms of its display, the Droid RAZR has been given a massive 4.3-inch capacitive touchscreen with a qHD resolution of 540 x 960 pixels and pixel density of 256ppi. As mentioned earlier, the display of the Droid RAZR is covered in Gorilla Glass for added security while the sensors that we commonly see in other smartphones like accelerometer and proximity sensor are all integrated onto the handset.
The shooters
In terms of its camera department, the Droid RAZR brings to the table a dual-shooter configuration. The rear snapper of the handset is a very capable 8MP camera with autofocus and LED flash. It has features such as image stabilization, geotagging, face detection and touch focus in addition to having a video mode that lets the user record 1080p clips at 30 fps or 480p videos at 120 fps.
The secondary shooter of the device on the other hand is mounted at its front panel and it is a 2MP snapper which can be used in video calls in addition to being used to capture 720p videos.
The bottom line
Overall, the Motorola Droid RAZR is a very future-proof device and is certainly expected to shoot to the top of the smartphone standings in no time at all. It may not have the classy and elegant look of the competition but there is no doubt that the handset will just let its specs sheet along with components under its hood to do all the talking.
